The Institute for International Criminal Investigations (IICI) proposes to hold its 19th International Investigator Course (IIC19) from 27 May to 7 June 2013 and is seeking applications from people proposing to attend the course. The course will be held at the IICI Headquarters (The Hague, Netherlands) and the Royal Netherlands Army School for Peace Operations (Harskamp, Netherlands).
The deadline for applications is 24 March 2013.
The course is designed to provide experienced criminal investigators and related experts with the additional skills necessary for the successful investigation of serious violations of international humanitarian law, including war crimes, genocide and crimes against humanity. Theoretical work is combined with practical exercises.
The training is open to those investigators who have at least five years' experience in criminal investigation, preferably in complex criminal cases, with international experience desirable, or five years' as a human rights investigator with experience in criminal inquiries. It is also open to military officers, criminal attorneys and forensic specialists with international experience. Fluency in written and spoken English is a necessity for IIC19.
The fee for participation is € 3,500. This amount includes tuition, accommodation and meals. All interested persons should complete an IIC Application Form and send an electronic version of their curriculum vitae, together with a two or three page (typed) sample of their writing in English, and references by email to .
There will be a limited number of scholarships available to qualified candidates from the global south. In order to apply for a scholarship please complete the IIC Scholarship Application Form instead of the regular IIC Application Form.
